Every recruiting cycle is a marathon, not a sprint.
For every new cycle, the months from January through April are a valuable time to lay the groundwork for that cycle with the signing periods running in December later that year and February of the following year.
Mario Cristobal and his UM staff have done a nice job of laying the groundwork for this 2023 class by gaining a perspective on who is legitimately interested in Miami by monitoring which players visited campus in January for the elite prospect day and practices throughout spring football.
Recruiting never stops and it is a forever evolving process.
It is early and there are plenty of twists and turns during a cycle, but this article looks to highlight the players at each position by which UM’s 2023 recruiting class should be judged.
To be clear, Miami isn’t going to land every player listed in this article, but if the Hurricanes can land half of the players listed here, it would be impressive.
Cristobal showed his ability to recruit at a high level and close strong when he first took over as UM’s head coach, landing recruits that helped the Hurricanes rise from being ranked in the 70s to finishing the 2022 cycle ranked No. 16 overall.
Miami made that jump in eight weeks under Cristobal’s leadership.
What type of class can Miami land in Cristobal’s first full cycle? In order to land a top five or a top ten class, UM must land elite talent.
