Grading Miami’s depth on offense following the spring

Building depth is a never ending pursuit in major college football. 

That’s especially the case for Miami head coach Mario Cristobal, who is taking over a 7-5 Hurricanes team. 

This article looks to examine the depth Miami possesses on offense following the month of spring football. 

In this article, we give a grade for the projected starters at each position and then a depth grade to assess how talented the back-ups are. 

We also highlight the areas where the position groups improved during the spring and share an area that still needs to be answered at each position. 

Following the spring game, Cristobal liked the progress the Hurricanes made during the 15 practices. 

“You wish you had 15 more of these practice, but you don’t,” Cristobal said. “So now it is about choices and decisions by the players in order to take that next step. We have to grow up and we have to be mature. Everybody has 100 days until game one, so what are you going to do with those 100 days? I know what we want to see. We want to see a team that plays with toughness, a passion, and physicality and resiliency. To get there, it is not a magic formula and there is no secret sauce or hocus-pocus. The Canes have to get to work.”
