Miami football finalist for 4-star OL Chase Bisontis because of new staff
The Miami football team was named a finalist for another offensive lineman on Saturday when four-star New Jersey prospect Chase Bisontis included the Hurricanes. Bisontis chose Miami as one of his quarterfinalists largely because of head coach Mario Cristobal and OL coach Alex Mirabal.
The other seven schools that Bisontis named as a finalist are Georgia, LSU, Michigan State, Ohio State, Rutgers, Texas and Texas A&M. Rutgers is the prohibitive favorite to gain a commitment from Bisontis at 65.4 percent according to the On3.Com Recruiting Prediction Machine. No one else is at five percent.
The Miami football team currently has a commitment for 2023 from four-star interior OL Antonio Tripp. Bisontis is listed as the 57th best player, sixth-best OT and number one in New Jersey in the Class of 2023 in the 247 Sports composite rankings. The On3 composite rankings have Bisontis 45th, fourth and first.
The presence of Cristobal being a former OL and coach for the position plus Mirabal has made an impact for Miami over the last four months. Miami signed three-star OL Anez Cooper and Matthew McCoy in December and received the commitment from Tripp since Cristobal was hired.
“I like Miami because of the new change in coaches with coach Mirabal and Cristobal…Also with coach Mirabal being so small, he must know something about playing OL. So I’m excited to learn from him. Both coaches are highly respected coaches across the country.
They show me much love, I have been talking with them over the phone almost everyday.”
The comments from Bisonis above came from On3. Bisonis commented on all eight of his finalists. Some of the additional comments from Bisonis are that he likes Rutgers because it’s close to home, LSU was his dream school since he was a child and he likes the potential of playing in the SEC.
Miami currently has the 19th ranked class nationally and third in the ACC with four commits. The Hurricanes also were named a finalist on Friday for four-star Finnish OL Olaus Alinen. When Cristobal was hired he mentioned the importance of emphasizing play at the line of scrimmage. That has happened in recruiting.
