Dog poop gives Miami robber away, police say
MIAMI – Dog poop helped officers to identify an armed robber on Monday night in Miami, police said.
A woman was walking her dog in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood. She was picking up her dog’s poop when a robber who was armed with a knife approached her from behind, pushed her against the wall, and squeezed her neck, police said.
Just as the robber attempted to remove her watch and bracelets, a witness started screaming from a balcony at the Biscayne Beach condominium complex, at 2900 NE 7th Ave. The robber shouted, ‘Shut up!” and took her book bag, police said.
More than an hour after the robbery, an officer found William Carroll. He fit the description of the armed robber and was walking northbound on Northeast Second Avenue near 32nd Street, according to the police report.
When officers arrested Carroll, 62, of West Little River, shortly before 11:50 p.m., outside of the Pizza Hut, at 3214 NE 2nd Ave., he had a dog poop stain on his shirt, police said.
