Academy Update: Inter Miami to Participate in 2022 Generation adidas Cup
Inter Miami CF Academy will compete in the upcoming Generation adidas Cup at the Toyota Soccer Center at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas from April 9 to 17.
Inter Miami CF will be among the 28 current MLS clubs with academy representation in both divisions, with 2023 MLS expansion side St. Louis City SC additionally fielding a team in the U-17 division.
This 2022 edition of the Generation adidas Cup will boast the largest field in the 13-year history of the event, featuring 23 international teams from some of the largest clubs in the world.
Inter Miami CF will face the academis of Brazilian Serie A club Flamengo, Italian Serie A side AS Roma, and Tigres UANL of Liga MX.
Inter Miami CF U-15 and U-17 sides will each play three matches over a four day period from April 9-12. The schedule for Inter Miami’s U-15 and U-17 teams is as follows:
Inter Miami CF U-15 and U-17 teams are both ranked as the #1 seed in their respective groups.
Inter Miami CF U-15 qualified as the #1 seed with four points from two games, and shares Group C with New York City FC, Columbus Crew, and Colorado Rapids.
Inter Miami CF U-17 enters Group C in their division qualifying with nine points in three games, meeting LA Galaxy, Minnesota United FC, and CF Montreal.
Both teams will play three group matches to determine qualification for the knockout round.
Sixteen teams will qualify for the winner’s side of the draw with winning teams advancing to play in a bracket-style elimination format. All teams competing in the Generation adidas Cup are guaranteed to compete in seven matches, with each match being 60 minutes in length with two 30-minute halves. Select matches played inside FC Dallas’ Toyota Stadium will feature 35-minute halves.
More than thirty games throughout the Generation adidas Cup will be streamed live on the MLS Twitch and YouTube accounts.
