Miami wide receiver-quarterback D’Eriq King drawing interest from NFL teams for his versatility
Former University of Miami and University of Houston quarterback D’Eriq King is drawing interest from NFL teams as a slot receiver with the versatility to play quarterback, especially as a red-zone threat on running plays.

King was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine but was still rehabbing from a shoulder injury. He has been invited to the Miami Dolphins’ local prospect day and has a pro day next week with the Miami Hurricanes.
Beyond an invitation to the Miami Hurricanes Pro Day, King (5-foot-9, 196 pounds) has drawn interest from the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and Seattle Seahawks, according to a league source.
King caught 58 passes from 2016 to 2017 before transferring to Miami. The former Manvel High School standout passed for over 10,000 yards and rushed for 3,000 yards in high school.
As a freshman, he started at receiver and caught 29 passes for 228 yards and 1 touchdown. King also returned kickoffs and had 1 score with an average of 25.4 yards per attempt.
As a sophomore, he split time at both positions and caught 29 passes for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns while passing for 1,260 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Additionally, King rushed for 379 yards and 8 scores.
As the full-time starter in 2018, King had 50 total touchdowns (36 passing and 14 rushing scores) to lead the nation before he tore his meniscus. In 2019, he redshirted before transferring to Miami.
With the Hurricanes, he was an honorable mention All-ACC selection with 2,686 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions, and rushed for 538 yards and 4 scores.
He tore his ACL in a bowl game after deciding to return to Miami for another season. He started three games before injuring his shoulder, ending his season.
When healthy, King is a productive, consistent contributor.
