How Saint Peter’s and Miami advanced to the Elite Eight: NCAA Tournament live updates

No. 15 seed Saint Peter’s has continued its Cinderella story at the NCAA Tournament with a 67-64 upset over third-seeded Purdue. The Peacocks become the first 15 seed in NCAA Tournament history to advance to the Elite Eight.

Saint Peter’s, led by coach Shaheen Holloway, did the same thing they did to No. 2 seed Kentucky and seventh-seeded Murray State last weekend, beating the Boilermakers with smart offense and a suffocating defense. Purdue’s lead guard, Jaden Ivey, finished with nine points (4-of-12 shooting, 1-of-6 from 3-point range) and six turnovers in 36 minutes. Big man Zach Edey struggled to defend the Peacocks in space and after a Boilermaker run midway through the second half, Saint Peter’s took over and closed it out.

Meanwhile, Remy Martin led No. 1 Kansas past No. 4 Providence.

Caleb Love went off for 27 points in the second half and 30 on the night to lead No. 8 North Carolina past No. 4 UCLA by a score of 73-66. The Tar Heels will take on No. 15 Saint Peter’s in the Elite Eight on Sunday.

Kameron McGusty was terrific for Miami in tonight’s 70-56 win over Iowa State. He had 27 points (10-18 FG, 4-7 3PT), six rebounds and four steals. The ‘Canes dance on as the ACC’s third Elite Eight entrant.
