Five-star 2023 LB Anthony Hill names Miami football finalist

Five-star 2023 linebacker Anthony Hill has named the Miami football program as one of his six finalists. Miami is joined by Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M and USC as programs being considered by the Denton, Texas prospect. All six of the finalists for Hill are listed as even according to 247 Sports.

Rivals.Com does not project a favorite for Hill. Hill is the ninth-ranked player, top LB and second in Texas in the Class of 2023. Hill had 131 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and eight sacks for Ryan High School last season. On offense, Hill added 176 yards rushing and seven touchdowns. Hill was a first-team junior All-American in 2021.

Hill is listed at 6’2, 225 pounds. Analysts state Hill could be either an edge rusher or LB in college. Miami significantly needs to upgrade their LBs. The Hurricanes signed four-star LB Wesley Bissainthe in the Class of 2022. Hill would be a huge addition for the Miami football program in 2023.

Miami did not sign a five-star player in the Class of 2022. Defensive tackle Leonard Taylor and safety James Williams were the last five-star prospects Miami signed as part of the 2022 Class. Miami seems more likely to sign five-star prospects under new head coach Mario Cristobal. Cristobal is known as a relentless recruiter.

The Hurricanes face formidable competition to sign Hill. USC is the only other finalist for Hill who did not sign a top 10 class in 2022. Texas A&M signed the highest ranked class ever in 2022. Most of the elite talent was on defense. Hill will likely consider joining what projects to be the most talented defense in college football.

Miami currently has three-star wide receivers Andy Jean and Lamar Seymore committed to the Hurricanes Class of 2023. The Hurricanes currently have scholarship offers out to 22 2023 LBs. Hill and Killian unranked LB Bobby Washington are currently the only two at the position strongly considering Miami.
