Miami’s top five breakout candidates in 2022
College football is a developmental game that features new players stepping up into bigger roles, which means each year there will be a new crop of players that have a chance to make significant impacts.
This article looks to highlight five players that have a chance to step up and breakout as impact players for the 2022 Miami Hurricanes.
Most of the players listed here come from UM’s talented 2021 recruiting class, which means the 2021 season was their first at the college level as they adjusted to the physical and mental rigors that come with competing at that level.
Another factor that plays a role in young players getting an opportunity in 2022 has to do with a coaching change that occurred this offseason.
Miami made the move from Manny Diaz to Mario Cristobal and a fresh set of eyes from a new head coach and new coaching staff allows young players to make a new case that they should be playing more.
These players have an opportunity to make that case in 2022.
Read on for five players we expect to potentially break out this year.
Note: To make this list, a player had to play less than 100 snaps on offense or defense in 2021.
