Tua Tagovailoa’s take on Miami’s 6-game winning streak
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa sees that keen communication and the bond within his team have been keys behind the six-game winning streak.
The Dolphins kept their aspirations alive at a late playoff push with the 31-24 win over the New York Jets in Week 15. Although the Dolphins totaled for three takeaways and also had dire struggles in slowing down the Jets rush offense, Tagovailoa led the way in the end. The second-year quarterback guided the Dolphins to four red zone touchdown drives.
There has been much behind the Dolphins’ turnaround as of late, but for the former Alabama Crimson Tide star, the sheer unity within the team has been of high importance to him, which he touched on following the win over the Jets.
“Just being around the guys, I really think it’s just the communication,” Tagovailoa said. “Just guys being in the building when we have off days. Guys wanting to work, stay back extra. I think all those play factors into our success on the field.”
Dolphins head coach Brian Flores also opened up on the team’s active winning streak, as he noted that he simply wants to maintain a “one day at a time” mentality.
Regardless of what transpires over the remainder of Week 15, the Dolphins will not head into their upcoming Monday Night Football encounter with the New Orleans Saints holding a playoff spot. At the least, the team is right back in the mix for a wild card spot in the AFC playoff picture.
